Engineering the next era of
sustainable built environment.
Hi, I’m Raihanul Kabir. I study Architectural Environment Engineering at the University of Nottingham.
Passionate about building physics, 3D BIM coordination, and environmental simulation. My work bridges the gap between architectural vision and technical building services, optimizing human comfort and cutting operational carbon.
The Engineering Discipline
Architectural Environment Engineering combines mechanical and building services engineering with climate-responsive design to craft net-zero ready infrastructure.
Environmental Performance & Thermal Simulation
Dynamic computational modeling of building envelopes using industry-standard tools like IES Virtual Environment. Focused on peak thermal calculations, natural ventilation strategies, daylight factors and minimizing solar gain.
3D BIM & Architectural Coordination
Parametric digital drafting and multi-disciplinary spatial coordination with Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD. Resolving complex clash detection between structural frames and mechanical/electrical service distribution.
Building Services & Thermofluids
Designing mechanical HVAC, ductwork routes, low-voltage power distribution schematics and fluid hydraulics. Applying thermodynamic principles to optimize heating, cooling and water network pressure losses.
Passive Design & Materials Performance
Investigation of advanced construction materials, thermal bridging mitigation and external cavity wall envelope specifications to maximize thermal mass retention and indoor air quality without mechanical dependency.
Leadership & Initiatives
Fostering student engagement, STEM innovation and cultural representation across campus societies.
UoN Bangladeshi Society
Head of strategic governance for an active body of 150+ members at the University of Nottingham. Liaise directly with the Students' Union on finance, room allocations, cultural galas and member welfare.
Manarat Robotics & AI Club
Established the institution's first dedicated STEM society, scaling membership to 350+ students. Conducted hands-on microcontroller and coding workshops, mentoring student teams for regional competitions.
